Trade Fairs are an essential part of any interior designer's year, and in Scotland the Scottish Interiors Showcase is the best place to meet new and established suppliers to the profession. This year we were on the look-out for fabric designers who are not necessarily represented at the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre and were delighted to find two in particular: Liberty Fabrics and Barker & Barker. Liberty is immediately recognizable with its historic designs and now its new take on old documents. Most of the fabrics on show were wonderfully colourful florals which I love for their boldness and personality.
Barker and Barker by contrast had calm and serene silks and silk/cotton mixes, and I particularly liked their simple approach to colour and design. We loved the aqua and cream designs.
Other old friends were there too, Bennett Silks, Anta and Little Greene are suppliers we return to time and again for their wind ranges and reliability. Let us hope next year's show will be even bigger.
